White House Establishes Permanent Pandemic Preparedness Office

Former Pentagon Joint Staff Surgeon Friedrichs was chosen as its first director.

The White House announced the establishment of the Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy, naming Major General Paul Friedrichs, the former Joint Staff Surgeon of the Pentagon, as its first director.

“This will be a permanent office in the Executive Office of the President (EOP) charged with leading, coordinating, and implementing actions related to preparedness for, and response to, known and unknown biological threats or pathogens that could lead to a pandemic or to significant public health-related disruptions in the United States,” the White House stated.

The Pandemic Preparedness Office will take over the duties of the temporary COVID-19 Response Team, working with scientists and healthcare professionals to continue developing federal policies for pandemic response efforts.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Director Friedrichs as he heads the new Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy office.
  • For the president and his administration as they lay the groundwork for future public health event responses.
